Hillcrest Halo: Monarch Park Events

Before humans set foot on the landscape, Hillcrest would have been covered in lush forests, with giants like Kauri, broadleaved species and kahikatea interwoven with a network of streams and wetland habitats. Today, Hillcrest is largely urban, but many fragmented remnants of the
original forest remain within reserves and on private land. These islands of native vegetation serve as invaluable refuges for native species and act as stepping stones for wildlife to travel across the landscape. Reserves in Hillcrest include Linley Reserve, Monarch Park, Stancich Reserve and Holland Reserve.
Would you like to get to know Hillcrest’s reserves a little better? Join us on Sunday, 20 July at Monarch Park for a fun-filled day out for the whole family. Grab a free cup of coffee, chat with neighbours, then take a walk through the park while learning about some of our unique native trees. Ever wondered what kind of wildlife lives in our streams? Come do a spot of stream monitoring and check out what we can find!
Join us again on Sunday, 24 August to put 500 native plants in the ground to help restore the bush and help our native birds, lizards and insects to flourish!
